Training Preparations

"Pain Sure Brings Out The Best In People, Doesn't It?"

Although always physically active, special efforts have been made now for about 12 weeks, to prepare for my walking the Camino.

I have been doing at least one walk of 10 miles (16 kms) a week. Recently, this has been increased to several of these walks a week - some even longer - and with a packed rucksack. The boots I have been planning to wear have been part of my preparations. The terrain has included the steep valley sides of the River Clyde near my home.

In the last few weeks, some cycling jaunts have played a part in this preparation also.

Close attention has been paid also to the care of my feet during these preparations.

All this - it is to be hoped - will stand me in good stead when finally I embark on the Camino from Sarria.
